Outrun Hunger

Outrun Hunger - November 2, 2013
For the last several years one of our church's campus's has hosted an event called Outrun Hunger. It is a 5K charity run/walk on the first Saturday in November that is held at the Commerce Township Offices in Commerce, Michigan.  All of the proceeds of the event will go to Open Door Outreach Center and Hospitality House to help feed families over the holiday season.  Each year the event has grown and has been able to feed more families each year.  Below are a few pictures of today's event...

Each year we have also been blessed with awesome sunny crisp autumn weather, that is until this year that is. Unfortunately we had a little rain, but it certainly didn't dampen the spirit of the race! It's a fun day to be out in the community, visiting with friends and neighbors, getting a little exercise, and helping others in need! Many local businesses donate different things such as prizes, massages, coffee and snacks and a local fitness club has their Zumba instructors come out to warm up the crowd before the race.  It is always a fun time, and even better it is for a good cause! Below are a few pictures of outrun hunger over the past years...

There are many opportunities this time of year to participate or volunteer in our communities and it is an awesome way to give back some of the many blessings that we take for granted every day. You can donate food, blankets, warm coats or mittens to your local outreach center or shelter, volunteer at a soup kitchen, or visit a local nursing home.  If you get a chance give it a try... I am sure you will take away much more than you give!

There is also an opportunity to give a monetary donation to help Outrun Hunger reach it's goal. Grace church is hoping to feed 600 families this year! All the proceeds of this great event go directly back to the community.  If you are interested in making a donation to this awesome cause just click here to Give to Outrun Hunger  there is still time to help feed families in need this holiday season!

Pass it forward,
