Irving Berlins White Christmas

I love old movies, especially the ones where they sing and dance a lot.  And I really love Christmas movies, and the 1954 version of White Christmas is definitely at the top of my list.  With Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen it is a must watch every Christmas Season.  The catchy tunes and the corny lines get me every time!  It is not hard to find it on TV this time of year, but in my house we have a copy of all the Holiday favorites so we can watch them whenever we are in the mood!

I have been lucky enough to see this musical live at the Fox theater with my daughter and some friends a few years back and it was wonderful. So this year when I found out one of my favorite performers, and dear family friend, Lauren Conley was going to be Betty (one of the sisters) in it at the Encore Theater in Dexter I was really excited!!! There are so many fun show's and events this time of year to go to, but I knew this was a must on our holiday schedule!

We took a little field trip with our daughter Jessy and her boyfriend Justin and some of our friends and had a wonderful time!  The Encore Theater is a really small venue, but we were pleasantly surprised by the amazing talent that was in the show.  Of course my favorite actor was Lauren, I am a little biased and have been watching her perform since she was in kindergarten, but the young man who played Phil Davis was really awesome too!  He reminded me of a young Fred Astair, and was cast perfectly in his role. It really put me in the Christmas spirit... it helped too, that we had a big snow storm the night before and everything was glistening and white outside!  Being that the theater was so small I felt like they were preforming it just for me and a few friends in my living room, you almost felt like you were part of the story. The music, the costumes and the set where fantastic and I am so glad we had the opportunity to see it!
After the show, Jessy's boyfriend Justin, treated us to dinner at Aubree's in Dexter.  It was a great place to eat with a fun atmosphere and great pizza.  They had many unique choices to choose from.  We tried the sticky chicken pizza that had mango chutney and a zesty avocado sauce drizzled on top of it, and I have to say it was fantastic! Aubree's have several locations in Michigan and if you ever get the chance I would recommend giving it a try!

I am feeling extremely blessed to have able to see and do so many fun things this holiday season and have really enjoyed the time we have spent with our friends and family... but I seriously need to stay home and start wrapping some presents!

Feeling Thankful,
